How to request official academic transcripts
A transcript is the permanent record of academic work undertaken at a college or university. Transcripts are usually maintained by the Office of the University Registrar or Records Department of each school.
You should request that copies of official transcripts of your prior academic work be mailed to Western Governors University or provided to you in sealed envelopes (which you then forward to us still sealed). Generally, such requests must be in writing or in person in one of three ways. (You should contact your previous college or university to determine their preferred method of requesting transcripts as well as any associated fees.)
  1. You may be able to order official copies of transcripts online from the Web site of the college or university that you previously attended. You should request that the official copies be sent to:
    Western Governors University
    Attn: Records Department
    4001 South 700 East
    Suite 700
    Salt Lake City, UT 84107
  2. You may also mail your transcript request to the Office of the Registrar of the university or college that you previously attended. Use the Transcript Request Form that is provided on the WGU Web site at the following link:

  3. You may also request official copies of transcripts in person at the college or university you previously attended.
If you have any questions or run into unusual delays or problems obtaining official transcripts, speak to your Enrollment Counselor of the WGU Transcript Evaluation Department at 1-877-435-7948, ext. 344.

"I never felt alone…"
"Far from feeling alone, I was guided at each point in the process by my mentor. I never felt alone. In fact, as I compare my educational experience at WGU with the other schools I attended, I had never experienced such support."
—Kathryn Schlendorf, WGU graduate
"More relevant…"
"I learned things that are more relevant and I learned in a manner that makes it much more transferrable to the workplace. In my undergraduate work, my professors would say, 'you'll probably only use about 35% of this in your field.' But with WGU, I'm already using 85% of it right now!"
—Matt Stowell, WGU graduate
"Quality is excellent…"
"We are very pleased to have WGU take on the challenge of teacher preparation and development. We have many people who need degrees but cannot attend traditional classes. Furthermore, the quality of the programs is excellent."
—George Ann Rice, Associate Superintendent, Clark County School Dis
