| Transferring |
If you've taken courses or received a degree from another college or university, you're probably wondering what will "transfer" into a WGU program. Here are a few general guidelines:
- If you hold an Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree from an accredited school, your AA or AS degree may "clear" all or many of the lower-division requirements in Business and Information Technology programs. This is also true for select Teachers College programs. Contact your Enrollment Counselor to learn more about transfer.
- If you earned an A.A.S. (or other applied associate's degree), you will need to have your transcripts evaluated on a course-by-course basis. Often, an A.A.S. degree will only clear some of WGU’s degree requirements.
- If you completed courses but did not earn an associate's degree, you may also be able to have some degree requirements cleared through a course-by-course transcript evaluation of previously completed college work.

Courses that Will Transfer
| | |
If you completed courses but did NOT receive at least an A.A. or A.S. degree, you still may "clear" some of the requirements in your WGU degree program.

Take Advantage of What You Already Know
| | |
Remember: WGU's competency-based approach lets you take advantage of your knowledge and skills, regardless of how you learned them. Even when you don't directly receive credit, the knowledge you possess may help you accelerate the time it takes to complete your degree program. Your Enrollment Counselor can explain how.

Community College Transfers
| | |
WGU maintains great relations with community colleges throughout the United States. Most incoming students from community colleges or junior colleges who have obtained an A.A. or A.S. degree will transfer in with upper-division standing. However, you will still need to submit your transcripts for evaluation.
If you're a community college graduate, WGU will waive the $65 application fee if you are transferring from one of the colleges with whom we maintain a special relationship. Ask an Enrollment Counselor how to get the application fee waived. If your community college is a member of WGU's Community College Partnership Program, you may be eligible for additional benefits as well.

Transferring from WGU
| | |
WGU students who may be interested in transferring to another institutioneither before or after completing their studies at WGUshould keep in mind the following points:
- All institutions reserve the right to determine their own transfer policies, and not all academic work completed at one institution may transfer to another.
- Students should check the transfer policies at the institution or institutions they are considering by consulting with the admissions or registrar office at those institution(s).
- Students who transfer should request that the WGU registrar send an official transcript of their WGU academic work to the institution(s) where they are applying for admission.
- The WGU transcript will note subject areas (domains) that were successfully completed. Credit equivalencies for the completed domains will be listed.

"I never felt alone…"
"Far from feeling alone, I was guided at each point in the process by my mentor. I never felt alone. In fact, as I compare my educational experience at WGU with the other schools I attended, I had never experienced such support."
| Kathryn Schlendorf, WGU graduate |
"More relevant…"
"I learned things that are more relevant and I learned in a manner that makes it much more transferrable to the workplace. In my undergraduate work, my professors would say, 'you'll probably only use about 35% of this in your field.' But with WGU, I'm already using 85% of it right now!"
| Matt Stowell, WGU graduate |
"Quality is excellent…"
"We are very pleased to have WGU take on the challenge of teacher preparation and development. We have many people who need degrees but cannot attend traditional classes. Furthermore, the quality of the programs is excellent."
