WGU Texas, NIX Health Care System Announce Partnership

SAN ANTONIO — WGU Texas has partnered with Nix Health to provide access to high-quality educational opportunities that support the work of the hospital and the educational goals of its employees. The partnership will assist with NIX Health’s desire to increase their BSN population and compliment WGU Texas’ pre-licensure program by serving as one more location in the San Antonio area for students to complete their clinical hours.

Nix Health has dedicated nearly 90 years to providing top-rate comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services in San Antonio and throughout Bexar County – with an emphasis on behavioral health, bariatrics, and orthopedic care.

“WGU Texas is pleased to partner with NIX Health Care System to provide these important benefits to their employees,” said Dr. Steven Johnson, WGU Texas Chancellor. “We look forward to providing new avenues to advance their education with bachelor’s and master’s degree programs.”

Under the terms of the partnership, all NIX Health employees are eligible to receive a five percent tuition discount (for up to four academic terms) off WGU Texas’ flat-rate tuition of approximately $6,300 per year for most programs, and are eligible to apply for special scholarships, including the WGU Healthcare Partners Fund Scholarship.
