Dr. Benjamin M. (Ben) Coulter is the southeast regional director for Western Governors University. In this role he supports the work of WGU in the southeastern states, including Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi.
Over the past 28 years, he has worked in various positions in and surrounding higher education. Preceding his current position at WGU, he was Vice President of Global Operations at a privately held LLC in the United Kingdom and Executive Director of Higher Education at a private consulting firm in New York City, advising postsecondary institutions across the United States and internationally in the areas of institutional accountability, professional academic program accreditation, and learning outcome assessment.
Dr. Coulter was formerly at Western Carolina University (North Carolina). He served dual roles as Director of Instructional Technology and Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Foundations, teaching courses at the master's and doctoral levels.
Before his work in higher education, Dr. Coulter was a career U.S. Army Officer in Counterintelligence and Counterespionage Operations.
