Newsha Makooi is the VP & Dean of Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, and IT at Western Governors University’s College of IT. With a career spanning leadership roles at Amazon Web Services, MTF's Statline, Starz Entertainment, and Fujitsu America, he has proven expertise in driving innovation and operational excellence.

At Amazon, Newsha managed multiple software development teams at an enterprise level and contributed to application security. He was Division Chief at Statline, responsible for technology decisions, and played a key role in increasing throughput and reducing defects for Organ, Tissue and Eye Donation and Transplantation.

His earlier contributions at Starz Entertainment and Fujitsu America include delivering high-quality media content and enhancing business growth. Additionally, Newsha served as an Adjunct Faculty member at the University of Denver, teaching graduate-level technology courses for six years while working professionally.

Newsha holds a Master's degree in Computer Information Systems from the University of Denver and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Physics from the University of Nebraska. His certifications include AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner and Certified Scrum Master among others.
