A Look Back on 2019
The past year was highlighted by expanding access for students and establishing fruitful partnerships.
2019 was a year for the books for WGU Tennessee! As we look back on the year, we’re proud of the strides we’ve made toward expanding high-quality, affordable higher education to Tennesseans. In 2019, we were named one of the best online universities in the state and surpassed 4,800 degrees conferred and more than $3 million awarded in scholarships since launching.
Expanding access to students in rural counties was a priority in 2019 and will continue to be a major focus in 2020. We launched a new scholarship, Everywhere, TN, tailored specifically to help students in rural and economically disadvantaged counties pursue degrees. We were also able to establish partnerships with several Tennessee-based organizations, like Eastman Chemical Company and LeMoyne-Owen College, to provide higher-education opportunities for their employees.
