WESTERN GOVERNORS UNIVERSITY
WGU Day at the Capitol - Texas
Calling All WGU Alumni, Students, and Faculty in the Austin Area!
We invite you to join us for WGU Day at the Capitol on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. This event offers a unique opportunity for our students, alumni, and faculty to meet with Texas lawmakers and discuss the vital role WGU plays in improving lives across the state. During the 2023 legislative session, House Bill 4005 was passed. This bill addresses the establishment of the Texas Competency-Based Education Grant Program for students in competency-based baccalaureate degree programs. WGU Day at the Capitol will continue our support for this important legislation.
We will arrange all visits, and you will be accompanied by a member of our team to facilitate introductions and discussions. What we ask is simple—share your story! It's crucial that legislators hear firsthand accounts of the impact WGU has had on our students' lives. The event is scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. CT at the state capitol in Austin. We will provide a detailed schedule and talking points on the day of the event along with an Advocacy 101 session before the legislative visits. Start your day with breakfast tacos, coffee, and juice at 8:00 a.m. in the Capitol Grill (Capitol Extension Room E1.002).
Kindly RSVP if you plan to attend. We appreciate your consideration and are happy to assist with any questions you may have. For additional information, please contact Nancy Fitzgerald, Alumni Relations Liaison, at nancy.fitzgerald@wgu.edu.
