One important measure of a degree’s value is the reputation of the university where it was earned. When employers, industry leaders, and academic experts hold your alma mater in high esteem, you reap the benefits of that respect. WGU is a pioneer in reinventing higher education for the 21st century, and our quality has been recognized.
Teacher Certification
WGU combines online curriculum with local placement for an in-person field experience in order to earn your teaching degree. Our program allows you to complete most of the program online. The in-person portion of the degree program is at the end, when you will do several weeks of observations and a 4-6 month demonstration teaching experience at a local school. WGU will help you find a suitable school for your demonstration teaching.
Each state has unique requirements for teacher certification, and some states have additional requirements for teaching certification, such as coursework not included in your WGU program, CPR certification, or workshops. Learn more about your state’s specific requirements for teacher licensure.
