Meet the Speaker:

Dr. Elizabeth Aube-VanPatten
January 23rd, 2025 Speaker

Dr. Elizabeth Aube-VanPatten is a team culture and people-focused HR Professional. In late 2022, she became the Lead Academic Program Manager for all HR Programs at Western Governors University, where she has served since 2019. In this role, Elizabeth is the overall end-to-end business owner for her programs, including market segmentation, selection, program requirements, curriculum, and student retention. Before her latest appointment, Elizabeth was responsible for all Marketing and Human Resource Management program faculty operations.

Before championing competency-based Education, Elizabeth spent most of her career in higher education. She was an Associate Professor at Johnson & Wales University in the Department of Sports, Entertainment, and Event Management and the first full-time faculty member hired in the Sports Media & Communication program at the University of Rhode Island.

Elizabeth received her PhD in Education from Northcentral University, where her dissertation focused on the importance of mental health advocacy for Division I student-athletes. She also holds an MS from the University of Illinois and a BS from St. John’s University.

Elizabeth is dedicated to advancing equitable access and inclusion in education by identifying students’ individual needs, removing barriers to access, and providing appropriate accommodations for students who need them. She has been recognized throughout her career for being a strategic leader who analyzes trends, utilizes and allocates resources, and facilitates growth within advanced academics and higher education.

Students will submit a Microsoft Form with a statement self-certifying their participation in each of the Leadership Series Sessions for the year. The form will be available to input information on May 22, 2025, at 6:00 a.m. MT. (Preview Form Here) The form will provide space to write a one-page reflection. The Women in Technology faculty support team will review the reflection for acceptance. Students must submit the reflections by June 30, 2025. The reflections will be reviewed within 3 business days of receipt, and all names will be submitted for credentialing no later than July 7, 2025.

This award is open to all active students in the School of Technology.

You will be allowed one opportunity to resubmit by June 30, 2025. Keep this deadline in mind when you submit your reflection. Given three business days are needed to review submissions, you may want to submit your reflection no later than June 22, 2025, to allow for a revision. 

The reflection will include at least one item learned from the sessions that helped refine the participant’s growth in overcoming self-doubt, cultivating positive expectations about the future, setting personal and professional boundaries, and cultivating a winning mindset. The reflection must focus on how participants have grown professionally due to learnings from the Leadership Development series.
