WGU Washington Offers Scholarships to Help Keep New Year’s Resolutions

Nonprofit, Online University Accepting Applications for New Year, New You Scholarships

Dec 31, 2018

KENT– Right now, while many people are making resolutions for the coming year, thousands of working adults are considering going back to school in 2019 to help them advance in their careers. To help those individuals achieve their goals, WGU Washington is now accepting applications  for its New Year, New You Scholarship.

To learn more and apply for WGU Washington’s New Year, New You Scholarship, visit www.wgu.edu/newyear and follow @WGUWashington on social media.

WGU Washington is the state’s only legislatively-endorsed online university. Created by lawmakers in 2011, WGU Washington uses an innovative, competency-based approach to student learning. That model – which measures what students know, rather than time spent in class – is excellent for midcareer adults, allowing them to learn and graduate more quickly and for less money.

“Because of my education, I have a better job and a higher salary,” said Courtney Christoffers, a graduate of WGU Washington’s College of Health Professions. “I was able to transfer to a hospital closer to my home – and my husband and kids. WGU Washington helped open new doors of opportunity and create a better lifestyle for my family. For that I am so grateful.”

Each recipient of the New Year, New You Scholarship will receive up to $2,000 ($500 per six-month term, renewable up to four terms) applicable toward any of WGU Washington’s more than 60 bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. The deadline to apply is March 31, 2019.

This scholarship is open to new WGU Washington students and alumni seeking an additional degree. Students are eligible to apply for this scholarship up to 90 days prior to their start date and up to 90 days after starting a degree program. While many scholarships will be awarded, it is a competitive program. Scholarships will be awarded based on the candidate’s academic record, readiness for online study and current competency, as well as other considerations.
