Partnership includes 40 broadcasts during the 2019-20 academic year

Aug 1, 2019

INDIANAPOLIS - WGU Indiana today announced that it will be the presenting sponsor of all Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference (MIC) broadcasts on the ISC Sports Network.

The partnership with ISC Sports Network includes 40 broadcasts during the 2019-20 academic year, spanning from August 2019 to March 2020. The broadcasts include MIC football, boys and girls basketball, soccer, volleyball, baseball and softball, as well as other athletic events. In addition to several streaming options, Comcast has partnered with the ISC Sports Network for 12 of the network’s 13 football broadcasts. Viewers will be able to watch MIC football games on Comcast’s local channel 81, in addition to WNDY-23, which will bring WGU Indiana’s messaging and branding into an estimated more than 300,000 homes throughout central Indiana.

“As a not-for-profit university, we are strategic and careful in determining where to focus our outreach resources,” said Alison Bell, WGU Indiana Chancellor. “We look for unique ways to increase awareness and understanding of the powerful opportunity that WGU Indiana is for Hoosiers by forming partnerships that allow us to tell our story. High school sports are a large part of this state’s identity and the MIC is a closely followed athletic conference. With WGU Indiana at the focal point of each of the ISC Sports Network’s MIC broadcasts, this partnership provides us with a new platform to reach viewers on a weekly basis in central Indiana in a way we never have before.”

The MIC, which consists of central Indiana Class 6-A high schools Warren Central, Center Grove, North Central, Pike, Lawrence Central, Lawrence North, Ben Davis and Carmel, is one of the most competitive and closely followed high school athletic conferences in Indiana.

Broadcasts will be available on ISCSportsNetwork.com and the ISC Sports Network app, as well as streaming platforms such as Amazon Fire, Roku, Apple TV and Google Play, in addition to cable channels such as Comcast’s local channel 81 and WNDY-23.

“We at the ISC Sports Network are absolutely thrilled to partner with WGU Indiana in presenting unparalleled coverage of the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference throughout the state of Indiana,” said Greg Rakestraw, vice president of the ISC Sports Network. “At ISC, we're a firm believer that you can establish a new tradition in a short amount of time. Certainly, the good people at WGU Indiana have done just that, providing another quality outlet and avenue for higher education throughout Indiana in less than a decade. In just our second year of serving Indiana, we feel that we are a quality outlet and avenue to watch high school sports, and sports of all kinds in our great state. We look forward to this relationship with WGU Indiana growing over the years, and we can't wait to get started this fall.”
