WGU Texas, Legacy Community Health Services Announce Partnership
Agreement Will Create Educational Pathways for Students and Assist Employee Development Goals
HOUSTON — WGU Texas, an affiliate of the national online Western Governors University, has signed an agreement with Legacy Community Health Services, Inc. to provide access to high-quality educational opportunities that support the work of the center and the educational goals of its employees. Legacy Community Health has 16 locations in the Houston area.
Legacy Community Health is the largest Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Southeast Texas providing comprehensive, quality and affordable health care services and programs to communities in the Houston area. Along with an employee tuition reimbursement of $5250, the partnership offers value-added benefits, such as exclusive scholarships and a tuition discount.
Additionally, WGU Texas will provide a unique landing page URL for employees and promote this opportunity through printed materials, social media, on-site presentations and other channels. Employees will also have access to WGU career services, resources and events, and lunch and learn presentations offered by Legacy Community.
“WGU Texas is pleased to partner with Legacy Community to provide these important benefits to their employees,” said Dr. Steven Johnson, WGU Texas Chancellor. “We look forward to providing new avenues to advance their education with bachelor’s and master’s degree programs.”
Under the terms of the partnership, all Legacy employees are eligible to receive a five percent tuition discount (for up to four academic terms) off WGU Texas’ flat-rate tuition of approximately $6,300 per year for most programs, and are eligible to apply for special scholarships, including the WGU Healthcare Partners Fund Scholarship.
