Start the New Year off by Earning a Respected Degree from WGU Texas
Online, nonprofit university will award up to $60,000 for the New Start Scholarship
AUSTIN — The start of a new year is an opportunity to think about the future and what advancing your education can do for you. To help make the transition to 2021 easier, WGU Texas is offering an added incentive by awarding up to $60,000 with the New Start Scholarship, which provides up to $2,500 per student.
Each New Start Scholarship will be applied at the rate of $625 per six-month term, renewable for up to four terms. Students enrolling in any of WGU Texas’ 60 bachelor’s and master’s degree programs are eligible to apply for the scholarship. Applications are being accepted now through March 31, 2021.
2019 WGU Texas graduate Kathleen Satumbaga knows what it means to turn a dream into a reality. She earned her MSN in Nursing Leadership from WGU Texas, overcoming major personal and financial obstacles along the way to make earning her degree. When her family emigrated from the Philippines, Kathleen’s father made it very clear that education was a priority. “Education can never be taken from me,” she said, “Jobs and people come and go, but no one can take away what I have achieved. [My father] helped me lay the foundation for my career.”
Designed to meet the needs of adult learners, WGU Texas’ innovative competency-based education allows students to take advantage of their knowledge and experience to move quickly through material they already know so they can focus on what they still need to learn. WGU Texas faculty members work one-on-one with students as mentors, offering guidance, support, and individualized instruction. While WGU Texas’ degree programs are rigorous and challenging, competency-based learning makes it possible for students to accelerate their progress, saving both time and money.
This scholarship is open to new students who have been officially admitted to WGU Texas. While multiple scholarships will be awarded, this is a competitive program, and scholarships will be awarded based on a candidate’s academic record, readiness for online study, and current competency, as well as other considerations.
