WGU Texas Welcomes Alumni Relations Liaison

Nancy Fitzgerald to develop strategies and initiatives to engage and enrich alumni experience

AUSTIN — Online, nonprofit university WGU Texas has promoted Nancy Fitzgerald to Alumni Relations Liaison for Texas and the greater region, including New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana. In this new role, Fitzgerald will work closely with the regional communications and outreach team and WGU national alumni team to provide an engaging experience for more than 18,000 alumni.

Most recently, Fitzgerald has served as the point of contact for alumni relations, working with the National Alumni Relations Advisory Board Member from Texas and engaging alumni on the Night Owl Network. “With her strong interpersonal skills and passion for WGU, she will help our alumni foster an affinity for the university by helping them stay connected with the alumni network and the university,” said Linda Battles, Regional Director of WGU Texas and the South region. “We’re excited to have Nancy spearheading our alumni engagement efforts.” 

Nancy joined WGU Texas in February 2012, serving as the executive assistant and office manager to five chancellors. During that time, she planned and executed six WGU Texas commencement ceremonies and supported the national commencement team with 10 commencements including alumni celebrations and weekend activities. She has more than 15 years of experience in marketing event strategy and communications. Fitzgerald earned a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Arts & Sciences from Texas State University.
