WGU Expands Scholarship to Support National Organization of Nurses with Disabilities Members
Nonprofit, online university to award scholarships to NOND members pursuing a healthcare degree
SALT LAKE CITY — In celebration of Nurses Day and as part of an ongoing commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, Western Governors University (WGU) announced today it will make scholarships available to members of the National Organization of Nurses with Disabilities (NOND) who wish to purse a CCNE-accredited BSN or MSN degree, or a bachelor’s, master’s, or MBA degree in specialties that include healthcare management, health information management and more.
NOND is a cross-disability and professional organization that works to promote equity for people with disabilities and chronic health conditions in nursing through education and advocacy.
“As WGU strives to be the most inclusive university in the world, we recognize the value of promoting inclusivity with collaborations between likeminded organizations,” said Jason Thompson, vice president of diversity, equity and inclusion at WGU. “Our partnership with NOND will help provide a critical pathway to advance equity for people with disabilities.”
Under this partnership, NOND members are eligible to apply for the WGU Partner Connect scholarship opportunity valued up to $2,500 and multiple scholarships will be awarded to qualified students.
“The National Organization of Nurses with Disabilities is honored and thrilled to partner with Western Governors University, which will provide inclusive scholarships to student nurses that will enhance academic performance and assist students to follow their dream of becoming a nurse,” said Karen McCulloch, co-founder and co-director of NOND. “We look forward to collaborating with WGU.”
