Western Governors University Announces Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) Visit in October

WGU first earned this accreditation in 2003, and the university has maintained NWCCU accreditation for 20 years

SALT LAKE CITY (April 19, 2023) — Western Governors University (WGU) today announced the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) will conduct an accreditation visit at WGU from Oct. 25-27, 2023. WGU first earned accreditation from NWCCU in 2003 and has maintained this accreditation for 20 years.

The visit is part of the regular cycle for reaffirmation of accreditation conducted by the NWCCU, an independent and nonprofit membership organization. NWCCU is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as the authority on educational quality and institutional effectiveness of higher education institutions in the Northwest region. The NWCCU team will meet with students, faculty, staff and board of trustee members to evaluate WGU's compliance with accreditation standards and policies. 

The public is invited to submit comments online regarding WGU’s qualifications for accreditation or by using the address below. To be considered, all comments must be submitted to NWCCU by Oct. 15, 2023.
